2012, 84 minutes

There's no cure for silence.

"Pat Collins, an unclassifiable Irish talent, returns with another starkly beautiful, deliberately confounding quasi-documentary."  - The Irish Times

Irish Film New York and Irish Arts Center co-present the U.S. premiere of Silence, a beautiful first feature, from Ireland's most prolific and accomplished documentary director Pat Collins. The film captures the beauty of Ireland's countryside as Eoghan, a sound recordist sets out to record its "silence" -- punctuated with delightful interviews along the way and giving voice to an Ireland that is forgotten or disappearing, or both. It was recently selected by the British Film Institute as its Film of the Week and was one of the revelations at the 2013 London Film Festival.

Irish Film New York's third season of contemporary Irish cinema also includes Run & Jump, Made in Belfast, King of the Travellers, When Ali Came to Ireland and The Hardy Bucks Movie. Irish Arts Center members can buy discounted $10 tickets (normally $12) here for any of the films by using the promotional code IAC.

Silence will be followed by a post-screening Q&A with director Pat Collins.

Presented as part of Irish Film New York, running from October 3-6.
