Art and Heart: The World of Isaiah Sheffer

Tuesday, October 25 | 7 PM

Directed by Catherine Tambini

2015, USA, 52 minutes

Isaiah Sheffer, one of New York’s greatest Renaissance men and a dear friend of IAC, left an indelible mark on theatre, radio, literature, and music across several decades, both in New York and nationwide. He was co-founder and artistic director of Symphony Space, the originator of Bloomsday on Broadway, and the comic genius behind the Thalia Follies. He hosted the popular WNYC radio program Selected Shorts and earned an Emmy nomination for his Road to the White House series on NBC. He was a husband and a father, and a mentor to many.

Through interviews with Morgan Freeman, Stephen Colbert, Leonard Nimoy, and many others, Art and Heart: The World of Isaiah Sheffer explores Isaiah’s life, his impact on the arts scene, and the tremendous effect he had on those around him.

After the screening, please join us for a talk back on Isaiah Sheffer, Joyce's champion on Broadway, with the film’s Director, Catherine Tambini;Executive Producers Gina Leonetti Boonshoft and Ethel Sheffer;editor Lenny Friedman; and IAC Executive Director Aidan Connolly, who will moderate.
